January-September 2017: Georgian airports serve over 3m passengers

Georgia’s three international airports served 3,258,382 passengers in the first nine months of 2017, which is a 49.35 percent increase year-on-year (y/y).
The number of passengers who took regular or charter flights in Georgia increased in all three main airports of the country: Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport, Batumi International Airport and Kutaisi David Aghmashenebeli International Airport.
More specifically, Tbilisi International Airport alone served 2,440,067 passengers between January-September, which was a 41.42 percent increase y/y.
Kutaisi International Airport served 383,996 passengers this year – a 110.31 percent increase, while Batumi International Airport served 428,314 passengers on regular or charter flights, which was a 58.31 percent increase y/y.
Georgia’s rural airports also saw an increase in passenger numbers this year.
Queen Tamar Airport in Mestia, Svaneti region, served 6,005 passengers, which was a 93.40 percent increase y/y.
Meanwhile, Ambrolauri airport in Georgia’s Racha region received passengers for the first time this year and served 1,517 passengers.
In the first nine months of 2017, the air transportation of goods also displayed a 18.91 percent rise.
So far this year, 2,703,117 passengers took regular or charter flights from Georgia’s three main airports: Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport, Batumi International Airport and Kutaisi David Aghmashenebeli International Airport.

Georgia’s three international airports served 3,816,538 passengers in the first 11 months of 2017, which is a 44.48 percent increase year-on-year (y/y). Tbilisi International Airport alone served 2,943,417 passengers between January-November, which was a 40.89 percent increase y/y, announced Georgian Civil Aviation Agency.

The total number of passengers served by Georgia’s three international airports amounted to 4,073,959 in 2017. With 12 percent, Turkish Airlines tops the list of the most popular airline companies operating in Georgia.
