Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze and Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Olexandr Saienko considered the possibility of travel for the citizens of the two states between Ukraine and Georgia on internal passports.

Georgi  expressed readiness to accelerate internal procedures, which would allow opening up the opportunity for mutual trips, Saienko’s press office announced yesterday.

Saienko congratulated Bakhtadze on his appointment to the post and on behalf of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman invited him to make an official visit to Ukraine this fall.

This visit could be timed to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic and consular relations between Ukraine and Georgia", the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine said.

Bakhtadze and Sajeiko also discussed holding a meeting of the Joint Ukrainian-Georgian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. Such a meeting may take place this year.

The officials said that they were ready to intensify cooperation in the development of transport corridors within the framework of the New Silk Road.

Ukraine expresses readiness to continue a constructive dialogue and cooperation on improving the existing and developing new transport routes, as well as to remove obstacles to the movement of goods and services. In this regard, the issue of development of the New Silk Road is urgent", said Saienko, adding that the development of such transport corridors would significantly increase the volume of Ukrainian exports.

Saienko stated that Ukraine "highly appreciates” the development of bilateral relations in recent years, which positively influenced trade relations.

"I think that we will gradually achieve an increase in the volume of mutual trade to $1 billion", Saienko said.
