The parliament of Georgia has granted a vote of confidence to the new cabinet of Georgia and the 2018-2020 Freedom, Rapid Development and Prosperity Government Programme initiated by the Prime Minister.
PM Bakhtadze, his cabinet and programme were approved by 101 votes against 12 in the 150-seat parliament at an extraordinary session last night. The new government was not supported by lawmakers from European Georgia.PM Bakhtadze thanked the parliament for supporting his cabinet and programme and promised to implement all the reforms and initiatives initiated by his team in short period of time.
"We will be governing for the interests of each Georgian citizen and we will prove it very soon,” Mamuka Bakhtadze said.
The new cabinet consists of 10 ministers and one state minister after PM Bakhtadze carried out structural changes and reduced the number of ministries and state ministers’ offices from 14 to 11. There are three newcomers for the positions of minister of economy, finance and education in the cabinet.
