"Our first idea is to fully annul the tax arrears of the period before January 1, 2013”, PM designate Mamuka Bakhtadze said at the parliamentary majority meeting today.

Bakhtadze presented the governmental program ‘Freedom, fast development, prosperity’ to MPs today.

When we talk about unfair rules in the economy, the clearest example of this is 2011-2012, when incorrect tax liabilities were imposed on our entrepreneurs and the major part of Georgian companies. Based on this, our first idea is to fully annul the tax arrears of the period before January 1, 2013”, Bakhtadze said.
This will apply to about 36,000 taxpayers. They have families, energy and opportunity to continue their full participation in the country's economic life”, Bakhtadze said.

At the meeting Bakhtadze also talked about the planned structural re-ogranisation of the government and stated that as a result 100-120 million GEL will be saved.

In his words, the maintenance of the state management office should not exceed 3.9 percent of GDP.

I would like to clarify the concept of a small government. It means a small portion of the government in the country's economy. We had progress in this direction, but it is not enough. The country's bureaucracy and management bodies should not be larger than is necessary to solve specific tasks. We have presented specific tasks and specific programs.
Consequently, we need a small government to make decisions efficiently and more quickly. We will not degrade any function. On the contrary, the ministries will be organised organically, according to functions and tasks. Our main task is the maintenance of the state management not to be very expensive, and therefore, we are introducing the maximum margin - 3,9 percent of the gross domestic product, which means that we will save about 100-120 million GEL and direct it to social programs, including education, which is a priority”, Bakhtadze said.
