Georgian leaders have congratulated Emmanuel Macron on winning the French presidential election.
Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili said that by choosing Macron, the French nation proved its aspiration towards welfare and further development.
"This is the choice in support of strong France and Europe, which is so important for the future of our joint European family”, Margvelashvili said.

He added in the modern world, which is full of difficulties and challenges, France is a symbol of democracy.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili commented on Macron’s win in a late night tweet. He wrote he looks forward to cooperation and further deepening relations between Georgia and France.

Centrist candidate Macron won the French presidential election, defeating far-right candidate Marine Le Pen. Macron won by 66.06 percent to 33.94 percent to become, at 39, the country's youngest president.
