Georgia is building a factory that will produce civil aircraft parts for Boeing, Airbus and Bombardier passenger planes.
An $85 million project will be jointly implemented by the state-owned shareholding company the Partnership Fund (PF) and Israeli-based international aerospace company Elbit Cyclone.
The construction of the ‘high tech and modern’ aviation plant began in September 2016 and is expected to be completed in 2017. The new factory is expected to begin producing aircraft parts in 2018.
The plant is being built on the premises of the Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport.
When completed, it will employ about 100 people who will be trained by specialists from Israel.
It is expected that the new facility will produce civil aviation composite parts that have a competitive advantage in the world market and will be on-sold to the airline industry. More specifically, it will produce parts like doors, aerodynamic surfaces and control panels.
The plant will export 100 percent of the produced product.
