An $85 million USD plant for producing civil aircraft parts will soon be built in Georgia.

Construction work will begin in three months and about 300 people will be employed at the new facility.

The project will be jointly implemented by Georgia’s Economy Ministry, state-owned shareholding company the Partnership Fund and Israeli-based international aerospace company Elbit.

While specific production details have not been released, officials said the new factory would begin to produce aircraft parts in two years.

It is expected the new facility will produce civil aviation composite parts that have a competitive advantage in the world market, and on-sold to the airline industry.

Representatives of Elbit met Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili today and discussed the project details.

Elbit believed the new plant will be "very successful”, as there was a strong and growing demand for new planes all over the world.
