Georgia’s new factory that will produce civil aircraft parts for Boeing, Airbus and Bombardier passenger planes will release its first production in two years’ time.
The construction of the high tech and modern aviation plant began in September 2016 and is expected to be completed in 2018.
The new factory is expected to begin producing aircraft parts in two years, announced the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the state-owned shareholding company Partnership Fund (PF) who today visited the construction site of the factory.
It is expected that the new facility will produce civil aviation composite parts that have a competitive advantage in the world market and will be on-sold to the airline industry. More specifically, it will produce parts like doors, aerodynamic surfaces and control panels.
Company representatives plan to issue the composite details of civil aviation [within two years], which will be competitive on the world market both in terms of price and quality,” said Turnava.
An $85 million project is being jointly implemented by the PF and Israeli-based international aerospace company Elbit Cyclone.
The plant is being built on the premises of the Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport.
When completed, it will employ about 300 people who will be trained by specialists from Israel.
The plant will export 100 percent of the produced product.
