A Georgian seven-member group, known as Shvidkatsa, will sing the US’s national anthem at the NBA game with champion Golden State vs Memphis.
The game is scheduled on December 20 on Oracle Arena and together with the anthem the Georgian group will sing three Georgian songs during the big break.
David Nozadze from the Shvidkatsa stated that they will sing the anthem with their interpretation and stated that their performance at the game was Zaza Pachulia’s "biggest merit,” the famed Georgian basketball player of the Golden States who was the captain of Georgia’s national basketball team.
The decision was made after Pachulia brought the Golden State NBA cup in Tbilisi in August 2017, after his team defeated Cleveland Cavaliers in the finals of the tournament.
Shvidkatsa was involved in the events with Pachulia and the NBA cup in Tbilisi and that time the Golden State press representative showed interest to the singing group.
Shvidkatsa will leave for the United States on December 15, on the invitation of the Golden State leadership.
Bubble heads of Zaza Pachulia will be distributed during the game.
