Famous Georgian basketball player Zaza Pachulia will be awarded a prestigious Order of Honour for promoting Georgia.
Pachulia will receive the state award upon the decision of the Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili.
Head of the presidential administration Giorgi Abashishvili informed Pachulia of the news during a phone conversation earlier today.
President Margvelashvili sent congratulations to Pachulia with his success at the National Basketball Association (NBA) Championship and wished further success.
Pachulia became the first Georgian to appear in the finals of the most prestigious national basketball championship in Oakland, California when his team, the Golden State Warriors, defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in the finals of the tournament.
The 33-year-old centre also registered three rebounds and one assist during his nine-minute spell in the most important match of the season, capping the performance with the first NBA champion's title for any athlete from Georgia.
Thanking the President for the state award, Pachulia said this is a great honour for him.
