US Secretary of State Tillerson: “We strongly support Georgia’s NATO membership”

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has stated that his country strongly supports Georgia’s membership in NATO.
We strongly support Georgia’s aspirations to become NATO member. We strongly support the open door policy. No third party should have anything to say about a country's pursuit of NATO membership,” Tillerson said within the NATO foreign ministerial in Brussels.

Tillerson stated he had a productive discussion with Georgian Foreign Minister Janelidze in the frame of the ministerial.
Georgia is a large contributor to our joint efforts in Afghanistan. In fact, they are the largest per capita of any contributing nation,” he stated.
NATO foreign ministerial was held on December 5-6 in which NATO foreign ministers reiterated their support to Georgia.
The gathering also saw the NATO-Georgia Commission meeting.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says that Georgia is paying close attention to the rule of law and to building of democratic institutions.The statement came within the NATO foreign ministerial in Brussels today, during Stoltenberg’s meeting with Georgia’ Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze. Stoltenberg told Janelidze that the partnership with Georgia is of the "highest importance” for NATO.
NATO Foreign Ministers have reaffirmed their practical and political support for Georgia, as well as their commitment to Georgia’s eventual membership in the alliance, the NATO official webpage reads commenting on the alliance’s foreign ministerial in Brussels.NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has also expressed gratitude for Georgia’s "many contributions” to Euro-Atlantic security.

The United States (US) Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Wes Mitchell has expressed his appreciation for the US-Georgia partnership. Mitchell had a phone conversation with the Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili yesterday.
