NATO Gen-Sec: Georgia focussing on rule of law, democratic institutions

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says that Georgia is paying close attention to the rule of law and to building of democratic institutions.

The statement came within the NATO foreign ministerial in Brussels today, during Stoltenberg’s meeting with Georgia’ Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze.

Stoltenberg told Janelidze that the partnership with Georgia is of the "highest importance” for NATO.

The high-ranking NATO official underscored the alliance’s firm support to Georgia’s territorial integrity and democratic reforms.

We support you politically and practically,” Stoltenberg said.

He thanked Georgia for its contribution to international peace and security.

For his part Janelidze said that on the path to NATO membership Georgia has progressed much.

Janelidze stated he was proud of Georgia’s role in international, Black Sea and  regional security.

Earlier today NATO foreign ministers revealed their support to Georgia.

The NATO foreign ministerial, which launched yesterday, concludes later today.

The NATO-Georgia Commission meeting is now underway.
