The 2018 New Year is approaching and Georgia’s capital city Tbilisi is fast transforming into a festive city, with new shimmer and twinkle New Year illuminations.
It is several weeks before New Year’s Eve and Tbilisi City Hall announced some of it's plans of the New Year celebrations.

Governmental organisation Tbilservice Group has already started the installation of the New Year illuminations in the central streets of Tbilisi – Rustaveli, Melikishvili, and Chavchavadze avenues and Pekini and Baratashvili streets, to help create a festive mood and enjoyable celebration for Tbilisi’s residents and guests.
We brought the New Year lights from Italy. On the main avenue [Rustaveli Ave] 32 butterfly-shaped lights will be installed. We have also decorated the trees and Rustaveli Avenue will be lit up in golden colors during the New Year days,” said Director of Tbilservice Group Levan Jgharkava.
As Jgharkava stated, 3 million GEL (about $1.10m/€0.92m*) was spent on New Year illuminations.
