Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze met with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan during his working visit to neighbouring Armenia today.

The pair discussed Georgian-Armenian cooperation and ways of deepening bilateral relations.

Janelidze thanked Sargsyan for the support Armenia had shown Georgia during the forest fire in Georgia’s Borjomi Gorge this summer. Armenia was among the several countries who sent firemen and fire engines to help.

While in Yerevan, Janelidze also met with Armenian Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandyan yesterday. They discussed issues of bilateral and regional cooperation, especially in trade and economy, transport, energy, tourism, culture and other directions.

  • In August of 2017 Armenia was the country from where the highest number of visitors came to Georgia.
  • In July, Armenia was among the top five countries which imported the largest number of Georgian peaches.
  • In June, the Georgian-Armenian Business Forum was held in Yerevan, and hosted more than 150 businessmen and high-ranking officials from both countries.
