Georgia are guaranteed a place at next year's World Rugby Under 20 Championship after defeating Argentina at the ongoing U20 tournament in Tbilisi earlier today.

Two tries by the Young Lelos, combined with two conversions and four penalties by the team's standout performer Gela Aprasidze ensured a late try by Argentina only took them a point within Georgia, with the match ending with a score 25-26.

It was the Georgians' first win of the tournament, after the U20 team lost their pool stage fixtures to Argentina, South Africa and France.

Tuesday's match between the Young Lelos and Los Pumitas was the first ninth place semi-final of the tournament, with the winner taking a berth at the next U20 competition, to be played in Scotland.

Georgia will play one more game within the ongoing championship, with the second ninth place play-off to pit the team against Ireland on Sunday.

The hosts will gain ninth place of the U20 tournament if they win against the Irish team, however the place at next year's tournament is already guaranteed for the Georgians.
