Georgia’s ruling Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia (GDDG) party has congratulated United States (US) President-elect Donald Trump on his election victory and wished him success in his future role.
Just over 24 hours ago America voted to elect Trump as the 45th President of the US.
Today GDDG released a special statement highlighting the strong Georgia-US bilateral relations and said the country would continue its close, strategic partnership under Trump's presidency.
We are convinced under the leadership of President Trump, US-Georgia relations will continue with renewed energy to ensure peace, security, freedom and economic development,” the GDDG party wrote in its statement.
In the letter the ruling party also noted the victory of the US Republican party, the party Trump belonged to, in the country’s Congressional Elections.
The United States and Georgia have benefited from a solid, strategic partnership for 25 years. Our cooperation has been developing equally well in all strategic directions no matter which party led America," said GDDG.
GDDG stressed it was keen to work with the new Congress and the new Administration of the US government to strengthen and deepen strategic partnership and friendship between America and Georgia.
Georgian top officials have already congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the presidential election, where he defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton.
