Today Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia destroyed large amount of drugs seized in the process of various investigating operations conducted around the country at different time.

The drugs which were burnt in a high-temperature furnace early in the morning included:
- 1,037 pills of Subutex
- 355gr Heroine
- 4kg Marijuana
- 3kg and 300gr Cocaine, and
- Psychotropic and new psychoactive substances
Law enforcers destroy seized drugs and psychoactive substances once in three months, according to the law.
The today’s procedure was attended by the representatives from Georgia’s Chief Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Labour and Health together with the Interior Ministry staff.
Georgia’s law enforcement agencies are taking a tougher stance on drugs; detaining eight people in the past month for drug-related violations.
Three foreigners have been detained at Tbilisi International Airport for allegedly bringing large quantities of drugs into Georgia.
Special units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained four foreign citizens today for allegedly importing drugs into Georgian territory and possession of large quantities of narcotics. Two citizens of Brazil, a citizen of Ecuador and a person from South Africa were detained at Tbilisi International Airport earlier today.
On March 2 the US State Department released its annual International Narcotics Control Strategy Report 2016 (INCSR), which outlined Georgia seized a record 2.8 tonnes of liquid heroin in 2014 and alongside several significant drug busts in 2015.
Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has detained a Georgian citizen for the purchase and possession of an especially large quantity of drugs.
The Interior Ministry has destroyed narcotic substances worth approximately 55 million GEL ($20 mln/€ 18 mln). The drugs were seized during 737 investigating operations conducted around the country at different times, the Ministry reported.
