An approximate date has been set for the second round of the Parliamentary Elections, announced the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia.
The second round of the October 8 Parliamentary Elections will likely take place on October 30 and a repeat vote is likely to take place on October 22 at several polling stations where votes were nullified due to incidents on Election Day.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) released the approximate dates last night.
The CEC of Georgia defined the approximate dates of conducting second round and repeat voting of the Parliamentary Elections by considering the high public interest and informing electoral stakeholders,” said the CEC in a statement.
The repeat vote will be held at four voting stations throughout Georgia on Saturday, October 22.
A repeat vote for the Parliamentary Elections through majoritarian election system will be conducted at #48 polling station in Marneuli municipality in southern Georgia.
Parliamentary Elections for majoritarian contest, as well as Gamgebeli (local governor) Elections will be held at #38, #79 and #108 polling stations in Zugdidi municipality, western Georgia.
Meanwhile the second round of elections will take place in 50 majoritarian election districts across the country on Sunday, October 30, said the CEC.
A second round of elections is needed when no majoritarian candidates gain at least 50 percent of all votes in their respective voting district.
There are 73 election districts in Georgia. After the October 8 initial vote Georgian Dream (GD) candidates won outright in 23 districts while a winner was not identified in the remaining 50 districts. This meant a second round of vote will be needed in these 50 districts nationwide.
