Lithuania supports visa-free travel within EU for Georgians

"I hope Georgian citizens will soon be able to travel within the European Union (EU) freely.”
This hope was expressed by Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius as he spoke at a joint press briefing together with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in Vilnius today.
Garibashvili was on a working visit to Lithuania. The EU-Georgia visa liberalisation process was high on the agenda of the visit.

Butkevicius reconfirmed Lithuania’s firm support towards Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations and welcomed the progress Georgia achieved on its path to this direction.
Garibashvili noted meeting the Association Agreement requirements was his Government’s top priority and added he expected positive feedback from the EU regarding Georgia’s progress within its Visa Liberalisation Action Plan in December.
The two PMs discussed security issues and stressed the humanitarian situation in Georgia’s Russian-occupied regions was hard.
Tightening economic and trade ties between Georgia and Lithuania was also in focus of the meeting.

While in Vilnius, Garibashvili also met Lithuanian government members and lawmakers. Friendly relations between the two nations and the importance of further intensifying the connection was stressed at each meeting.
People living in the Vilnius will celebrate the opening of Tbilisi Square – an area named in honour of Georgia’s capital.
In Lithuania today Georgia's Justice Minister met several high-ranking Lithuanian officials including the country’s Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and head of the Seimas (Parliament of Lithuania).
"We need you in our Euro-Atlantic family” – these words were spoken by Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius in the Georgian capital Tbilisi today.
