Georgians working in the cultural sphere are planning ways to raise money for the people affected by the weekend’s devastating flood in Tbilisi.
Georgia’s Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection and all its subordinate organisations were coming together to host several charity events in support of the June 13 victims.
All money raised from the charity events (concerts, theatre performances and other cultural events) will aid families affected by the disaster, said the Ministry today.
One of the charity events foresaw the National Museum of Georgia and all museums across the country offer free admission to children of families who suffered in the flood. These children will also have opportunity to enter all cultural centres and be involved in any educational program at any Georgian museum for free. This offer was available for the foreseeable future.
Additionally, all money generated from ticket sales in one day from all Geogian museums will be donated to the cause.
Culture Minister Mikheil Giorgadze emphasized all Ministry employees were actively volunteering to clean the affected areas in capital Tbilisi; this included offering primary aid and manpower to clean-up efforts and collecting money for the disaster victims.
