The United States (US) is joining the international community and offering assistance to help Georgia and its people recover from the deadly flood that hit Tbilisi on Saturday night.
US State Department spokesperson Jeff Rathke announced the US was ready to support Georgia in this difficult time.
We express our deep condolences to the families and friends of those who lost lives, and as the Georgian people begin to rebuild, the United States, as a friend and partner, will be by their side,” he said in a statement.
Members of the US Embassy community are already assisting in clearing debris, and the United States stands ready to assist the Georgian Government in the recovery effort.”
Rathke did not specify whether this support would include financial aid.

Meanwhile the European Union (EU),âUnited Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and several countries within Europe and Asia expressed readiness to provide relief to families affected by the flash flood.
In addition, Polish businessman Mariusz Artur Napora shared a photo of the Tbilisi natural disaster on his Facebook page and called on his friends to help people in Tbilisi. He also planned to host a charity auction at his Polish restaurant, where raised funds will be donated to Tbilisi to help affected families.
