Maka Botchorishvili, the Georgian Foreign Minister and Numan Kurtulmuş, the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, discussed “key issues” of strategic bilateral cooperation between the countries, in Ankara, the Ministry said on Thursday.
The parties stressed the “importance of further strengthening inter-parliamentary collaboration”, with special emphasis on the upcoming visit of the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili to Turkey, as well as the cooperation between the parliamentary friendship groups.
Botchorishvili and Kurtulmuş highlighted the “growing trade turnover” between Georgia and Turkey, pointing out their “partnership in strategic transit and energy projects”.
The meeting also focused on security challenges in the South Caucasus region and the significance of promoting peace and stability.
The officials reviewed trilateral cooperation between Georgia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan in various fields, including the “parliamentary dimension”.
The Ministry added “firm support” for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity had been reiterated once again from the Turkish side at the meeting.
