Police arrest two on charges of human trafficking of disabled person

The Georgian Interior Ministry on Wednesday said its professionals had arrested two individuals on charges of human trafficking against a disabled person in the country’s capital Tbilisi.

The Ministry said its investigation had established the offenders had “systematically used physical and psychological violence” to force the victim to have sexual acts with multiple individuals in exchange for money in the city, before appropriating the money earned.

The body added the arrested individuals had used further physical and psychological violence and threats against the victim when the amount of money earned was deemed unsatisfactory to the group.

The crime is punishable by imprisonment of up to 15 years.
