Dubai’s Burj Khalifa skyscraper in the United Arab Emirates was on Monday illuminated in the colours of the Georgian flag to mark the signing of a $6 billion investment agreement between the Georgian Government and the EMAAR Group, a UAE-based real estate development company.

The Georgian Government called the agreement an “unprecedented volume of foreign direct investment in Georgia’s history” for the country’s capital city of Tbilisi, Black Sea city of Batumi and the coastal town of Gonio.

The deal, involving a multifunctional development project for the locations, was signed during Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze's visit to the UAE on Monday.

The EMAAR Group has been involved in development of major projects such as Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, and the Dubai Mall, which attracts over 110 million visitors annually.
