Robin Dunnigan, the Ambassador of the United States to Georgia, on Wednesday told the Georgian Parliament strengthening economic ties between the countries was a “top priority”, and pledged “strong support” for Georgia’s role in the Middle Corridor logistics route.
By the time I leave this country, I want to be able to say that there is more bilateral trade and investment in our country than ever before [...] Some of you know I am an economic officer by background, and I have spent most of my career building economic relationships between countries. Last year, our bilateral trade reached a historic high of $2 billion, but for me, it's not enough”, Dunnigan told MPs.
She noted $50 million had been invested for constructing a terminal at Poti Port on the Black Sea, which she said had increased Georgia's capacity as a link to connect Central Asia with Europe.
We will continue to do work like this to support Georgia as it cements itself as a logistics hub in the Middle Corridor”, Dunnigan said in reference to the route connecting the two regions through the South Caucasus.

Dunnigan also highlighted her country’s commitment to support Georgia’s “unique and rich” cultural heritage.
