Georgian national team claim silver, bronze in Karate tournament in Cyprus

The Georgian national team claimed silver and bronze medals in the Karate 1 Series A tournament in Cyprus, the Sports Ministry said on Monday.

Merab Gelashvili earned silver in the Kumite 84+ kg category after losing the final to his Japanese counterpart Fumiya Yoshimura 0:2.

Luka Vasadze defeated Turkey’s Arslan Husan in the -84 kg category 3:0 and claimed the bronze medal.

Hosted in Larnaca last week, the event featured about 900 athletes from 82 countries, with the Georgian team represented by 10 wrestlers.
