Givi Mikanadze, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament's Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee and his Latvian counterpart Agita Zariņa-Stūre on Wednesday signed a joint communique on cooperation in the fields of education and science at the meeting held in Tbilisi.
Mikanadze briefed his Latvian colleague on the main activities of the Parliamentary Committee, as well as ongoing and planned reforms in the education system of Georgia. The sides also discussed bilateral cooperation, the press service of Parliament said.

In his comments after the meeting, Mikanadze noted the visit of Latvian officials would deepen the relationship and cooperation between the committees of the two countries. He also stressed that the signing of the communique would “intensify and activate” the existing ties, which would create more opportunities for students and academic staff through exchange programmes and joint projects.
