Release of Georgian citizens illegally detained by Russian occupation forces and developments along the occupation line in Georgia were in focus of the 117th Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism meeting in Ergneti, the Georgian State Security Service said on Tuesday.
The representatives of the SSS once again “strictly demanded” the punishment of individuals responsible for the killing of a Georgian citizen Tamaz Ginturi during an attempt of illegal arrest by occupation forces in November 2023.
Today, the 117th IPRM took place in Ergneti under the co-facilitation of the Acting Head of EUMM, Tibor Kozma, and the Special Representative of the @OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus, Viorel Moşanu.

IPRM participants discussed ongoing challenges faced by the conflict-affected communities, including recent security incidents and detentions, as well as humanitarian problems of individuals living along the Administrative Boundary Line, separating the occupied regions from Georgian-controlled territory.
The co-facilitators of the meeting, Tibor Kozma, the Acting Head of the European Union Monitoring mission in Georgia and Viorel Moşanu, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus, highlighted the importance to focus on the safety of the conflict-affected communities and reiterated their strong support for establishing full freedom of movement along the ABL.
As previously, the co-facilitators encouraged participants to discontinue the practice of detentions and advocated for the release of remaining detainees”, the EUMM said.
After the IPRM meeting, Irakli Antadze, the Deputy Head of the Analytical Department of the SSS, said there were observed two cases of illegal 'borderisation' activities carried out by Russian-backed forces in Georgian villages adjacent to the administrative boundary line.
It was pointed out at the meeting that two Georgian citizens, Dimitri Korinteli and Giorgi Meladze, were illegally detained by the occupying forces today in the country's occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region, he added.
The next IPRM meeting has been scheduled to convene on March 20.
