Georgian PM, European Aquatics President discuss holding of Federation’s Congress 2025 in country

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and European Aquatics Federation’s President António Silva met to discuss the holding of the Aquatics Federation Congress 2025 in the country.

The Congress will bring together the presidents and delegates of national federations from 52 countries of the world, the Government Administration said on Saturday.

The parties also reviewed the possibility of hosting the European Water Polo Championship in Georgia in 2028, with both sides expressing readiness to collaborate in this direction. 

The conversation also focused on the necessity to develop appropriate infrastructure for the Championship, stressing by 2028, the country would have a modern aquatics complex capable of hosting world and European-level competitions in water polo and other aquatic sports.

António Silva thanked the Prime Minister for the meeting and for supporting this type of sport.
