Irakli Kobakhidze, the candidate for the position of the Prime Minister of Georgia, on Thursday said peaceful restoration of the country’s territorial integrity and “complete overcoming” of poverty were the “two most important national tasks” of the Government.

In remarks at the Georgian Parliament, Kobakhidze noted the ongoing occupation of 20 percent of Georgia's territory by Russia and 15 percent of citizens living below the poverty line.

We can only be satisfied with our work [...] after we nullify these two percentages. Zero percent of occupation and zero percent poverty - this is the Georgian dream, this is the Georgia of our dreams”, he told MPs.

He stressed the work of the Government both this year and between 2025-2028 would be “directed towards the realisation” of the objectives.
