The Tbilisi City Municipal Assembly on Tuesday approved a budget of ₾2.55 billion ($910mln) for 2025 for the Georgian capital city, marking a “notable increase” supported by ₾580 million ($206.41mln) in aid from the central Government, as announced by the Mayor Kakha Kaladze.
Kaladze highlighted the “substantial growth” of Tbilisi’s budget since he took office, emphasising his administration's commitment to addressing the city's challenges.
We try our best to answer all challenges and problems adequately. The next year's budget also gives us the opportunity to do so [...] In 2017, after we were elected by the people of Tbilisi, the budget for 2018 was set at ₾815 million ($290.04mln). Today, of course, the figures have changed significantly”, he said.
The Mayor thanked Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of the country, the Government, and the Ministry of Finance for their support, acknowledging the cooperation was “important for successful execution” of future projects.
The allocation of the 2025 budget will cover various sectors, with infrastructure projects receiving ₾700 million ($249.11mln) and health and social care funding assigned ₾535 million ($190.39mln).
