Robin Dunnigan, the United States Ambassador to Georgia, on Wednesday commended the “genuine dedication” of the Georgian Government to its partnership with Washington for combating terrorism.
Dunnigan made the comment to Rustavi 2 TV channel after the latest US Department of State Country Report on Terrorism, published in December, which highlighted Georgia's “robust engagement” in counterterrorism efforts and portrayed the nation as a “strong partner” in global security.
The diplomat expressed appreciation for Georgia's commitment to the “shared endeavour”, emphasising the “seriousness” with which Georgian officials had approached the matter.
"We highly value our collaboration in combating terrorism. Georgian authorities have demonstrated a genuine dedication to this partnership. The safety of both Georgians and Americans is paramount”, she said.
Citing Georgia's “challenging” geopolitical context, the Ambassador stressed it was “crucial that we work closely with our Georgian counterparts to ensure border security, effective customs operations, rapid response to risks and threats, and a robust coast guard and military defence to deter aggression”.
Dunnigan further noted she had observed a commitment to these principles within Georgian institutions.
