Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Executive Secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Thursday described President Salome Zourabichvili’s Constitutional lawsuit challenging the results of the October general election as “baseless”, claiming it had “no chance of success”.

In his press comments, the official further suggested “only subjective influence” could alter the outcome.

As a lawyer, I know for sure in advance that in the case of an unbiased approach there is no chance this lawsuit will be successful due to its lack of grounds”, he said.

Speaking about “subjective factors of intimidation or pressure” on the Court, Mdinaradze claimed it was “absolutely unlikely” under the current Government.

The current Government, unlike the [previous] United National Movement authorities, does not apply any of such methods. There is no such morality in our Government”, the lawmaker claimed, adding the system was “fully free from external influence and guarantees impartiality”.

The Constitution Court this week registered the President's lawsuit that alleges violations of secrecy of the vote and universal suffrage in the October 26 general elections, but has not yet formally reviewed the case.
