Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday congratulated the national Under-21 football team on their successful qualification for next year’s European U-21 Championship.
The Georgian team earned the spot after winning 7-6 in a penalty shootout against Croatia.
The shootout followed the Croatian squad winning 3:2 after extra time, following Georgia’s 1:0 victory in Tbilisi last Friday.
With the result, Georgia qualified for the European Championship for the second time in a row.
The tournament will be hosted in Slovakia between June 11-28.
It will involve 16 teams and players born on or after January 1, 2002.
