State Care Agency says two dead, two injured in fire at care home for elderly

The State Care Agency under the Georgian Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs on Wednesday said two beneficiaries had died and two others had been injured in a fire at a care home for the elderly in a village of Mukhrani in eastern Georgia.

The Agency said the injured beneficiaries had been transferred to a medical facility for treatment, and noted Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze, joined by local Government officials, had visited the injured following the incident.

The body also said all other beneficiaries of the  shelter had undergone health checks and relocated to other facilities, where they were receiving “necessary care and services”.
