Georgian Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze on Wednesday said the Saudi Fund for Development had expressed readiness to participate in the development of infrastructure projects in Georgia, following his meeting with Faisal bin Mohammad Al-Qahtani, the Deputy Executive Director of the SFD.
During the meeting, held as part of the Road Safety and Sustainability Conference and Exhibition in Saudi Arabia, Karseladze shared insights into completed, current, and planned infrastructure initiatives in Georgia, highlighting the “shared commitment to enhancing road safety and sustainable development”.
The SFD is an organisation with a rich history of implementing significant projects worldwide. In light of its progress and the results achieved, it will be exciting to further strengthen our relationship and collaborate on new projects. There is certainly a solid foundation for this cooperation, which can be applied to various initiatives we have, including road construction, water supply, and municipal and regional development”, the Minister said.
During the Conference, Karseladze also met with Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, the Minister of Transport and Logistic Services of Saudi Arabia, and Alexis Vafiadis, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works of Cyprus. The parties recognised the importance of the Conference, exchanged insights about the progress and plans for road infrastructure development and discussed opportunities for future collaboration.
We discussed the progress of current projects and shared our countries’ successful experiences in infrastructure development. Topics such as road safety, innovation development, and the practical implementation and use of smart technologies and management systems were also highlighted. Our colleagues are fully prepared to enhance our cooperation for the more effective execution of infrastructure projects”, Karseladze said.
The Conference, organised by the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services of Saudi Arabia, gathered sector ministers from Cyprus, Kuwait, Nepal, and the Maldives, alongside officials from the International Road Federation and professionals from technological universities in the United States, Europe and beyond.
Held between Sunday and Monday, the conference served as a platform for discussing contemporary strategies for urban transport systems and inclusive safety management.
