Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said the 2025 budget would reflect a “number of topics” that were included in the election programme and would “one of the most important issues” to be discussed by the Parliament.
The budget is the main issue. We are going to review it in accordance with the election programme. One of the most important issues that the Parliament will discuss will be the 2025 budget, which reflects a number of topics that we talked about in the election programme, as many issues we addressed during the election will become relevant next year”, Kobakhidze said in an interview with an Imedi TV live programme.
The Government will be approved [...] and Parliament will need to deliberate these matters from late November to mid-December. Time is of the essence as the year draws to a close. Ultimately, the approval of the budget will be the central topic of discussion in Parliament”, he added.
Few days before the parliamentary elections, the PM announced the upcoming 2025 state budget would see growth “in all directions”, including pensions and funding for culture and sports, and would be presented to the country’s Parliament in December.
He said the country’s budget had been increased from ₾8.5 billion ($3.11bln) in 2012 to ₾28 billion ($10.26bln) this year, while it was projected to exceed ₾40 billion ($14.65bln) by 2028.
The country's legislative body earlier in October announced the draft state budget of Georgia outline a planned real economic growth of 5.5 percent for the coming year, with an average inflation forecast of 1.5 percent.
