Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó on Monday said his Government was “standing ready” to deepen cooperation with Georgia “based on mutual respect” and support the country’s European integration.
In his social media message, Szijjártó congratulated the ruling Georgian Dream party on “securing and maintaining” the Georgian people’s “trust” in the parliamentary elections held on Saturday.
“Nothing new under the sun: on Saturday, it wasn’t Brussels’ or the liberal mainstream’s designated winners who took the election in Georgia, but the sovereign, peace-focused, family-oriented ruling party that openly prioritises national interests”, the Minister said.
He further claimed that following “the liberals’ clear defeat” in Georgia, the “usual attacks began with claims that the election wasn’t fair, that democracy in Georgia is lacking, and so on”.
