Georgia's Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said “all conditions” were being prepared to ensure the country’s membership in the European Union by 2030, when the bloc’s enlargement is planned.
Speaking at a Government meeting, the official highlighted the importance of “strengthening Georgia’s international standing”, particularly its path toward European integration, and emphasised the Government's “ambitious plans” to fulfil “over 90 percent” of obligations under the EU-Georgia Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area deal.
Our aim is to have Georgia fully ready for EU integration by 2030, fulfilling all obligations and achieving significant economic progress. We will make serious advancements in terms of democracy, human rights, and overall development. This is crucial for the country's strength and for improving the living conditions of our citizens”, the PM pledged.
The EU and Georgia signed the AA and DCFTA, an integral part of the deal, in 2014.
