Bidzina Ivanishvili, the Honorary Chair and Founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday claimed “rebooting relations” with the United States and other international partners of the country depended on “mutual attitude, not only on Georgia”.

In his interview with Imedi TV, Ivanishvili said that "the problem [in relation with international partners]  was the ongoing war in Ukraine, as this situation “strained all kinds of relationships”, and he expressed hope that the war would “end in a few months, possibly at the end of this year”.

He also added that after the parliamentary elections scheduled on October 26, he would meet the US Ambassador to Georgia, Robin Dunnigan.

[ ] When we won the court case in Singapore and Credit Suisse [referenced to Ivanishvili’s battle with Credit Suisse to reclaim funds stolen by a former employee of the Swiss bank] could no longer prevent its [the court’s decision] enforcement, I immediately called the US Ambassador [ ] and asked for a meeting, and told her that the reasons that were actually resolved by themselves, therefore there is no longer a problem from me and I am ready to meet [ her]. The reaction from there [the US Ambassador] was very sound, there is a desire for it [the meeting], and we are going to meet after the elections, we have already talked about it”, Ivanishvili said.

He also emphasised the US was always a “priority” for the Georgian Government and “even the former members” of the ruling party, “who are in the opposition today, can remember his attitude well”.
