Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili on Tuesday said a “stable and peaceful” environment, coupled with “long-term predictability”, in the country would lead to a “significant” economic expansion and enable increases in pensions.
During meetings with local entrepreneurs in the western Imereti region, Davitashvili highlighted the interconnectedness of social welfare and economic opportunities, underscoring the Government’s plans for the next four years were contingent on these factors.
He claimed “any pre-election promises” by political subjects, including about increasing pensions to ₾1,000 ($367.69), were “superficial and baseless” without taking into account these “conditions, circumstances, and specific calculations”.
On the other hand, the Minister underscored the Government’s commitment to “realistic” and “ambitious” plans.
Each number presented in the election programme is the result of that plan. We are offering the population a realistic and ambitious plan, which is feasible if there is stability and a predictable environment in the country”, he said.
The meetings with entrepreneurs and local business representatives in Zestaponi and Terjola cities focused on the economic environment in the region, the Government’s economic programme and projects.
Davitashvili emphasised the importance of “effective communication” in the process of entrepreneurship development in the region, both at the central and local levels, taking into account the “content, scale, and specificity” of the existing issues.
It was very interesting to engage in dialogue with local entrepreneurs and learn about their specific needs. I will personally communicate with our colleagues in various ministries to ensure concerns and issues of local entrepreneurs are addressed and specific responses are provided”, the Minister said.
There are local issues and there are topics of more public importance that will be reflected in our decisions over the coming months. In both cases, we will have close communication and cooperation with the local Government and party leadership”, he added.
Davitashvili thanked local business representatives for their contribution to the economic development of the region and assured them of further support from the state.
