Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili on Friday participated in an unveiling of a new municipal park project in the Black Sea resort city of Batumi, highlighting its role in enhancing the city’s urban development “without imposing additional pressure in terms of construction or development”.

This is a project that should be very sensitive and important for every resident of Batumi with its idea and concept - a green project that will enrich the city [...] We understand the project that will be implemented here should be of the highest standard and should improve the city even more, make it even more beautiful”, the Minister said.

Davitashvili underscored sustainable and ecological aspects of the park, emphasising the need for “quality, high-standard” projects that would attract visitors with higher purchasing power and bolster the local economy. The park’s integration into the existing Batumi Boulevard and its alignment with the city’s historical and cultural significance were also highlighted as key features.

This is an additional investment of tens of millions in our economy. It is part of a very important large project, in which hundreds of millions will be invested”, he added.

The park, to be constructed by the Silk Development company, is poised to be a multi-functional recreational space, integrating various sports, entertainment, and leisure facilities such as padel courts, a sports ground, pedestrian and bicycle paths, and more.

Designed in collaboration with international firms MASU Planning and Kengo Kuma Architects, the project aims to enrich Batumi’s landscape and contribute to the city’s overall appeal, the Ministry of Economy said.
