Georgia experiencing “significant increase” in int’l visitors from EU, UK - Tourism Administration

The Georgian National Tourism Administration on Thursday said the country had seen a “notable rise” in international visits from the European Union and the United Kingdom in the first nine months of the current year.

The total number of visits from EU countries and the UK reached 348,329, marking an increase of 5.9 percent compared to the same period in 2023, the body added.

Georgia welcomed 62,804 visits from Germany between January and September, showing a year-on-year increase of +15.6 percent. Visits from the UK totalled 25,431, indicating a growth of 12.5 percent, while visits from France reached 22,768, reflecting an increase of 21.3 percent.

Additionally, there were 20,500 visits from Greece, marking an increase of 24.3 percent.

The Administration said Georgia received 121,815 international visits from the countries of the Persian Gulf between the first and third quarters, representing a substantial increase of +24.8% compared to the same period in 2023.

During the reporting period, 77,567 visits were recorded from Saudi Arabia, surpassing the 2023 data by 21.8 percent. This was followed by 23,415 visits from Kuwait (+48.1%).

Overall, the country has hosted almost six million international travellers in the first nine months of the year, marking a 4.1 percent year-on-year increase.
