The Georgian National Tourism Administration on Wednesday said the country had hosted almost six million international travellers in the first nine months of the year, marking a 4.1 percent year-on-year increase.
Additionally, 3.99 million international tourists visits took place in the country during the reporting period, reflecting a 9.2 percent increase from the previous year.
The Administration’s expectations at the end of last year were completely justified. We achieved another record number of international traveller visits. By the year's end, we hope to host as many tourists as planned, as Georgia is an appealing destination year-round”, Maia Omiadze, the Head of the GNTA, said.
She added the increase in traveller numbers was attributed to the Administration’s implemented projects and introduction of new flights to the country.
The Administration consistently conducts campaigns in target markets, participates in numerous exhibitions, and hosts major events in Georgia to raise awareness of the country as a whole. This serves as motivation to attract many travellers to the country [...] the introduction of flights to new destinations and increased flight frequencies help boost traveller numbers and promote the country”, Omiadze noted.
The GNTA said the growth trend continued into the third quarter of the year, with 2.77 million international travellers visiting in a 2.5 percent increase from the same period in 2023.
The number of international tourist visits during this quarter amounted to 1.86 million, signifying an 8.3 percent increase compared to the previous year.
