Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri and Giorgi Kalandarishvili, the Chair of the Central Election Commission of the country, on Monday signed a memorandum of cooperation to ensure conduction of the October 26 general elections in a “peaceful and safe environment”.

The Ministry said the memorandum established a framework for “coordinated information-sharing” between the bodies, fostering collaboration throughout the election period and outlining “forms of cooperation between the parties and the relevant legal framework”.

The body noted the document also included joint training sessions for Ministry employees and CEC representatives, as well as regular work meetings to facilitate “effective communication and preparedness”.
