Teimuraz Khomeriki, a member of the Council of the National Bank of Georgia, this week highlighted the country’s “well-developed” digital payments infrastructure during his address at the 33rd Economic Forum in Karpacz, Poland.

He also noted the “significant” increase in the use of cashless payments across the country.

Digital payment systems hold immense potential. Their implementation will support the development of innovative business models that benefit society, improve the efficiency of financial intermediation, facilitate the introduction of new financial products, and ensure broader financial inclusion”, Khomeriki said.

The NBG said the Karpacz Economic Forum was the “largest and most influential” conference in Central and Eastern Europe.
