Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Deputy Economy Minister of Georgia, on Friday said the Government was advancing negotiations to establish more direct flights with China.
China is a very interesting new tourist destination for our country. As part of our diversification policy, we are actively collaborating with the private sector to promote our country in China. We are committed to continuing the ongoing negotiations to establish more direct flights”, she said.
During a working visit to Beijing, the delegation from the Ministry met top executives of the Chinese-based Hainan Airlines, Capital Airlines and Sichuan Airlines to discuss possibilities of expanding flight connections between the two countries.
Kvrivishvili underscored the “growing interest” in Georgia as a tourist destination among Chinese travellers since the introduction of visa-free travel.
The Deputy Minister also emphasised the continuation of “important” marketing campaigns to further enhance passenger and tourist flows from China, foreseeing “positive” economic implications and a “strengthened” tourism sector in Georgia.
