Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Wednesday said the country’s European Union integration would be “very difficult, if not impossible” without “peace and possibility of stable development”.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili noted pledges made by the ruling Georgian Dream party ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections next month included “stability, development, and economic progress”.
Of course, it is important now [for us] as a candidate country to continue these steps in relation to the European Union and to achieve our strategic goal”, the Committee Chair said.
“However, to achieve this goal, Georgia first needs peace and stable development. When we talk about EU integration, if there is no peace and the possibility of stable development, it will be very difficult, if not impossible, for the country to achieve this goal”, she continued.
The Committee Chair also highlighted that “intensive relations” with European institutions had “always been supported” by the ruling party.
