Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday said it was a “problem when the European Union ceases to fund something based on lies”, in reference to the bloc’s decision to freeze financial support of €30 million in support for the country from the European Peace Facility in response to the Government’s adoption of a law on transparency of foreign influence.

“It is a problem when EU representatives stop funding something based on a lie - the lie is very bad, and this does not show EU representatives in a good light”, Kobakhidze claimed.

As for the funding, if something has been stopped, everything will be compensated very easily. We are talking about very small amounts. The fact itself is bad - the fact that some funds are suspended because of a lie is very bad”, the PM continued.
