Rati Ionatamishvili, the President of the Paralympic Committee of Georgia on Sunday said results of the national team at the Paris Paralympic Games would be a “motivation for young people with disabilities” in the country.
“Not a day passes without our team winning a medal, and this result is a record, since we had only earned four medals in [para sport] history, and now we already have [nine]”, Ionatamishvili said.
“The Georgian Paralympic Committee and [the Paralympic] movement are one family, and we will always be focused on tomorrow”, he added.
Nine of 14 Georgian athletes won medals at the event that brought together around 4,000 athletes from 180 countries to compete in 549 medal events across 22 sports, with powerlifter Akaki Jintcharadze securing a bronze on the final day of the Games on Sunday.
